A useful cabinet plan places frequently used items where they are visible and reachable, not simply where a catalogue has space.
Compare the complete construction
Ask about box material, back construction, shelves, edge treatment, drawer boxes, slide rating, hinge adjustment, finish, warranty and moisture resistance. Labels such as “wood” or “premium” are too vague.
Prefer drawers for many lower-cabinet tasks
Wide drawers can improve access to cookware, dishes and pantry items. Verify weight capacity, interior height and clearance around plumbing or ranges.
Design storage from an inventory
List pots, pans, appliances, food, cleaning supplies, recycling and serving pieces. Assign each group to a cabinet before approving drawings.
Keep service points accessible
Do not block shutoffs, traps, electrical junctions or appliance connections with permanent organizers.
